What Is The Mission Of The LCDEC?
The LCDEC's primary mission is to encourage and support the development of distance learning opportunities in and around Lea County, New Mexico and therefore improve the educational access for the communities in the area.

What Does The LCDEC Provide?
The LCDEC provides administrative and technical support services to the local Public School Districts and Universities interested in developing, deploying, or using distance learning technologies to extend learning.

Some Examples:
Currently the LCDEC provides its' members with an integrated "iTV System" to broadcast various classes to and from eight classrooms located in Jal, Eunice, Hobbs, NMJC-Hobbs, Lovington, Tatum, and ENMU-Portales. Through the use of this system, students from around the area are able to take courses ranging from basic high school math classes through college-level graduate courses without having to leave their home town. In fact many high school students who are taking courses provided through the LCDEC's iTV system are graduating with as many as 32 college credits allowing them to enter college as a Sophomore in many cases. In addition, teachers and staff from many of the local school districts are able to continue to extend their studies by utilizing this system right from their own school building; making it easy and convenient to pursue higher degrees or meet licensing standards.
